3M Open donates funds to VEAP

PGA TOUR event supporting eight major charity partners to showcase the ‘Power of Community’

FEBRUARY 24, 2021

BLAINE, Minn. – 3M Open officials today presented VEAP, one of Minnesota’s largest food pantries, $100,000 to assist the organization in creating pathways to stronger, more hopeful communities.

Today’s efforts are part of the 3M Open Fund’s mission to assist select Minnesota charities and highlight the ‘Power of Community’ throughout the year.

“We’re so grateful for the role and efforts everyone involved with VEAP has being doing since 1973 and are excited to join the team,” said Mike Welch, 3M Open Tournament Director. “Our wish is that our gift and our hands-on assistance will help raise awareness for this incredible program.”

“We are thrilled to partner with the 3M Open to provide much needed food and housing assistance to children, youth, adults and seniors experiencing the economic impact of the pandemic,” said Joe McDonald, CEO of Veap. “VEAP is deeply grateful for their generous support in bringing hope to our communities.”

VEAP distributes 4.6 million pounds of food per year and serves 33,000 households in the cities of Bloomington, Richfield, Edina and South Minneapolis. It also provides caring, professional support for individuals and families in crisis. Annually, over 1,800 volunteers support these efforts and help stage the on-site food pantry and mobile food pantry.
