3M Open Fund gifts more than $1.5 million to local non-profits

Oct 23, 2019

BLAINE, Minn. – 3M Open officials announced today that more than $1.5 million will be gifted to local non-profits, with $1 million going to three pillar charity partners. The three pillar partners include the M Health Fairview, University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, the Science Museum of Minnesota, and the National Park Foundation.

A check presentation and naming ceremony has been scheduled with the M Health Fairview, University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital for Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. CT in the newly minted 3M Open plaza.

“This tournament truly represents golf that matters,” said Denise Rutherford, 3M’s senior vice president of corporate affairs. “Our primary goal with the 3M Open was to help improve lives right here in Minnesota and we look forward to strengthening that mission over the next several years. It’s important that this tournament provides our community more than just a week of exciting golf, but also a year-round presence of collective good.”

The remainder of the funds have been gifted to several area non-profit organizations that help improve the well-being of Minnesotans.

The inaugural 3M Open was held this past July at TPC Twin Cities and became Minnesota’s first PGA TOUR stop in 50 years. The 2020 edition of the 3M Open will be held July 20-26.
